Job Description

 

Summary:
Senior Registrar is responsible for providing the care of the patients (outpatient) maintaining a high-level of 
professional performance in accordance with:
 Professional medical ethics and CBAHI / JCIA standards.
 Hospital medical by-laws.
 Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according 
to the departmental quality plan.


Functional Responsibilities:


 Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, 
compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Care Hospitals and Clinics.
 Provides patient care within the parameters of their professional competence as reflected in the scope 
of their clinical privileges.
 Practices within the framework of clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines and 
criteria.
 Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on his/her patients within the range of the specialty.
 Documents patient status including Histories, physical examinations, planning the investigations, 
treatment and disposal of patients.
 Document plan of patient management and maintain appropriate records of all patient with accurate, 
timely legible completion of patient's medical records. Keeping an updated follow-up in the progress 
notes.

Job Description


 Seek the advised of or help of the consultant whenever the condition of a patient merits further 
expertise.
 Supervise the Junior Staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the 
department.
 Actively participates in department’s educational and training activities.
 Abides by department Policies and Procedures as well as hospital by-laws, Rules and Regulations.
 Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role 
regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and 
procedure including documentation in patient medical record.
 They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
 Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and 
choices of patient care.
 Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients’ developmental 
level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
 Allots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to 
patients/families with appropriate documentation.
 Participate in teaching activities for junior staff, interns, and medical students.
 To carry out any other assignments as directed by the Head of Department and within the realm of his 
knowledge, skills and abilities.
Job Specifications


Minimum Job Qualifications Requirement (Academic, Certifications, languages, etc.)
A minimum of:


Required:


 Graduation from an accredited medical school (MBBS), completion of required period of training.
 Post graduate / Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Family Medicine.
 Registration in Saudi Medical Council and/or Current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia as 
a senior registrar.
 Valid Certification of Basic Life Support (BLS).
 Advance Life support training as per specialty.
Desirable:
 Higher qualifications in his specialty
Minimum Work Experience:
Required:
 Minimum three (3) years in the specialty after obtaining Post Graduate Degree.
Desirable:
 Five (5) years’ experience in the specialty after obtaining Post Graduate Degree.

 Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities
 knowledgeable of the Medical by-laws
 Competence in relevant clinical procedures
 Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
 Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills. 
 Proficiency in electronic health records and clinical systems
Job Description
 Knowledge of computer application
 Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
