Job Description
The Radiology Manager is responsible for planning, fiscal budgeting, evaluating and leading the team of radiology department administratively and technically in a medical facility except physicians.
His / her responsibilities also include equipment quality control and maintenance, inventory, ordering of supplies, and performance improvement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Head of Radiology in planning & implementing annual performance plan.
Budgetary
Develops strategies & tactics to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and achieve effective use of imaging services.
Plans, monitors & manages the operating budget of radiology dept.
Reviews productivity and labor analysis and adjust staff to meet budget and flex FTE allotment.
Creates operational adjustments to ensure operating budgets targets are met.
Evaluates and recommends supplies, new equipment purchase selection and technologies; provides justification and prioritization of such needs; orders procedural and operational supplies.
Oversees and ensures that exams and supplies are coded correctly and charged to maximize reimbursement.
Presents the analytics to HOD in the 2nd week of each month along with action plan for the challenges areas.
Operational
Manages and directs the daily operation of assigned areas and staff.
Develops implements, maintains and enforces departmental programs, policies, procedures and protocols in due alignment with MOH, CBAHI & JCI.
Ensures and maintains required documentation for compliance with safety, environmental and infection control standards, as being required by regulations.
Monitors compliance with standards, identify variances or inabilities to meet established targets and implements action to ensure that targets are met.
Directs the maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficient, safe and effective services for patients, physicians, and staff.
Markets and promotes Imaging Services to referring physicians.
Identifies & capitalize on the opportunities to improve customer satisfaction.
Represents Imaging Services on committees and functions as a liaison among the general public in community relations and marketing activities.
Develops and fosters collaboration among clinical departments and affiliated services to ensure an integrated and coordinated approach to providing Imaging Services and resolution of customer complaints or problems.
Maintains interactive communication with patients and families and effectively addresses conflicts and opportunities for improvement
Collaborate with physicians and staff to resolve problems and provide advice concerning technical procedures, techniques, and equipment
Supervises the maintenance and quality control of the department’s equipment and maintain inventory and order supplies.
Keeps the monthly statistics updated and presents the same in the 2nd week of each month to HOD.
Personnel
Performs all personnel functions within radiology dept. including hiring, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary process and scheduling except physicians.
Ensures an active coordination of external services and part-time contracts.
Develops employee’s schedules, overtime & on call duty.
Ensures that all employees are properly oriented, trained, and that annual competencies, certifications, and licensure and education requirements are current.
Ensures that all personnel are properly trained on equipment and competent in its use.
Enhances professional growth and development of department staff through participation in educational programs, current literature, in- service meetings and workshops.
Plans, develops and provides continuing education and training.
Develops, implements and apply personnel management policies and procedures; ensures that department and hospital guidelines, work rules and personnel policies are understood and applied to staff.
Develops and implement Performance Improvement plan for Imaging Services.
Responsible to perform additional tasks and duties assigned by the department head.
Responsible to know and abides hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Supervises:
Radiology technicians & technologists.
Radiation safety officer.
PACS administrator.
Radiology receptionists & medical coders.
Radiology nurses.
Radiology transcriptionists.
Radiology filing clerks.
Liaises with:
All medical, paramedical, nursing and administrative departments.
Qualification
Education:
Required
Sc in Radiologic Technology
Master is Radiologic Technology is preferred.
Registration in Saudi Medical Council and/or current license to practice in Saudi Arabia
Experience:
Required
At least Five years of clinical experience in medical imaging and three years as manager.
Extensive clinical and technical experience in one or more subspecialty of imaging.
Skills
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
- Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer application.
