Job Description
Radiation Safety officer is responsible for the protection from radiation, starting from the competent Regulatory authority concerned with the protection matters down to the worker inradiological practices and qualified staff who handles radioactive materials in any manner. The responsibilities also include radiation emitting equipment quality control and maintenance, inventory of radioactive sources & radiopharmaceuticals, ordering of related supplies, and related performance improvement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- To Ensure the Protection of the entire Radiology department staff and patients from the risk of radiation and radiation leakage.
- To ensure that all radiology staff are wearing their TLD card during their working hours.
- To ensure the safety of employees and continues monitoring, for the TLD Card reading by a licensed company (Contractor/third party) once every three months.
- The company is supervised by the Radiation Safety Officer with all required radiological services
- Ensuring that the existing service has all the required licenses and verifying their effectiveness
- Ensure that there is a lead shield in all radiological rooms and all mobile radios and ensure its safety with daily QA/QC.
- Conduct a radiological survey of the equipment once a year with the company contracted with.
- Calibration of devices and radiation sources used periodically. if applicable.
- Calibration of radiation measuring devices.
- Measurement and drawing of radiation dose curves for different fields of radiation sources.
- Perform radiotherapy planning for different patients, if applicable.
- Supervise the technicians working with him within his competence.
- Supervision and continuous follow-up maintenance of medical devices.
- Supervision and continuous follow-up of the process of measuring radiation doses for employees in the department.
- Follow the hospital policies, procedures, guidelines applicable to job.
- Meets current objectives and positions the organization for future growth.
- Completes daily tasks and assignments and processes large volumes of work associated with the operation of the department.

Qualifications:
A minimum of:
Education:
- B.Sc in Radiologic Technology, medical physics or biomedical engineering.
- Professional License from Saudi Council for Health Specialties.
- Holder of a professional license to practice (KACARE)/NRRC.
- Must have received training recognized by the competent Regulatory Authority in the field of ionizing radiation measurement and protection.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
Experience:

· At least 5 years of clinical experience in medical imaging. · Extensive clinical and technical experience in one or more subspecialty of imaging. · Previous management experience/degree is preferred. |
Skills Description
- Fluent in spoken and written English, ability to speak Arabic language. Computer literate, knowledge of Radiology applications/system.
- Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Good in customer care, able to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledgeable in computer applications.
