Job Description

Job Summary

Medical Director has a major role in the effort to provide high quality medical care with a high degree of clinical safety and be responsible for the professional conduct of all Medical staff and all of the standards of medical care whilst maintaining a high level of business strategy led professional performance in accordance with;

  • Professional Medical Ethics & International Healthcare Standards (JCI & CBAHI).
  • Hospital Medical By-laws.
  • KSA Ministry of Health Laws and applicable Regulations.
  • Quality, Safety & Risk Management.

Also has a vital role to link the business strategy with all medical departments through effective deployment and monitoring of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) & Performance Management Process (PMP). Along with provision of effective leadership of medicals departments for maintaining an appropriate quality plan using measureable performance plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the medical board to update, amend, and replace medical policies.
  • Manage our Care National Team of physicians and ensure that employees are complying when providing care.
  • Create work groups and leadership committees that are designed to improve patient care and enhance relationship with providers.
  • Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and knowledge is given to every patient served at the CNH Hospital and Clinics.
  • Provide advice, guidance, direction and authorization (according to the delegation of authority) to the hospital department heads to carry out their major plans and objectives, consistent with established policies and procedures.
  • Work with CARE CEO to set the Hospital's strategic goals, objectives, budgets, policies, and procedures to enhance its image, service, market share and profitability.
  • Conduct strategic reviews of the hospitals performance on a regular basis to determine whether it is meeting its short and long-term objective.
  • Set the hospital department's high level goals, objectives, budgets and plans and work with department heads on attaining such goals.
  • Review the operating results / outcomes of the hospital in general and departments in particular, compare them to established objectives and goals, and follow-up to ensure appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results / outcomes.
  • Create and cultivate an effective system of communication throughout the hospital to ensure that responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities of all department heads are defined and understood.
  • Acts as the principal public relations officer of the hospital with regards to establishing and maintaining relations with customers, government entities, and the public.
  • Ensure proper utilization of the hospital resources.
  • Serve on, or appoints representatives to, major interdisciplinary committees.
  • Ensure development of an effective organizational structure and the promotion of a positive internal climate that encourages teamwork, stimulate innovations and maximizes employee's potentials.
  • Delegate as appropriate responsibilities to department heads, in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the hospital.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to all department heads to ensure effective and efficient flow of work, and ensure all department heads recognize their fundamental role in the hospital.
  • Monitor the adherence of the employees to the hospital's guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisal to review department heads work performance. Cary out disciplinary meetings when appropriate.  Recommend salary adjustments, rewards and promotions based on department heads performance.
  • Recruit, develop, manage, and motivate employees throughout the hospital.
  • Performs additional tasks and duties as assigned by the management (CARE & Board of Directors).
  • Responsible and accountable to the CEO for the overall clinical performance, budgeting, costing and revenue management.

Skills

Qualifications:

A minimum of:

  • EDUCATION:
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Medicine.
  • Master of General Medicine
  • Current certification in country of professional practice.
  • Saudi Board / American Board / FRCS / MRCP / Canadian Fellowship or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant medical laws.
  • Commitment to continuous education.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Keen eye for details.
  • Ability to show empathy
  • Proficiency in both English and Arabic languages.

Desirable

Higher qualification of his specialty.

 

Experience:

  • Required

Minimum of ten (10) years Administrative/Managerial experience or in a similar position in a large health care facility.

Current valid medical practice license in the area of his / her specialty

Previous administrative experience

Registration in Saudi Medical Council

  • Competencies:
  • Demonstrates leadership and Administrative skills.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English and Arabic.
  • Has a high standard of medical ethics and sense of responsibility.
  • Knowledgeable of Medical by-laws
  • Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good general health and ability to work extended hours under stress.
