Job Description

Job Summary

 

Responsible, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, for training activities to maintain a supportive environment within which nursing staff can expand their knowledge and skills, and thus improve their practice.  Clinical instructors work in hospital settings and have to design and develop training programs for nursing students, staff, and trainee.  They help nursing students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a hospital.  Works flexibly and cooperatively while always following the Riyadh Care Hospital policies and procedures and reflecting the Mission, Vision and objectives of the hospital in a client centered manner.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Nurse educators plan, design and implement curricula and arrange matter for nursing courses.

 

  • They provide general competency courses, as well as ones specialized for specific areas and follow up.

 

  • They mentor and teach nursing trainee students from different institutions.

 

  • They need to provide a climate of learning and encourage the development of the nursing students.

 

  • Work closely with the Infection Control Coordinator in relation to educational activities regarding nursing policies specific for infection control.

 

  • Teach selected courses and workshops.

 

  • Encourage the staff in on the job training programs.

 

  • Monitor nurse’s compliance with established policies and procedures to identify educational needs.

 

  • Act as a role model and a resource in clinical nursing practice to motivate staff to adhere to standards of patient care.

 

  • Identify learning needs to the new employees, provide educational activities/resources and demonstrate nursing procedures or use of equipment’s to nursing personnel on all shifts.

 

  • Make self-available to staff to explain clinical nursing and administrative standards.

 

  • Perform clinical research and evaluate nurse-training programs to see if the matter is up to the mark with other hospitals.

 

  • Demonstrate high standards of knowledge and skills using the Nursing Process and Problem solving method when performing patient care.

 

  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change as required.

 

  • They need to keep track of the latest developments in the field of nursing and incorporate those changes so that the curricula follow the newest trends and changes.

 

  • Provide orientation to the new staff in coordination with Head nurse.

 

  • Present a monthly report on activities to Director of Nursing.

 

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing to meet the educational needs.

Qualification

 

Education/Licensure:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  •  Master degree in Nursing and post Graduate Certificate in Leadership is preferred.
  • Current Licensure (RN) with a nursing governing body from country of origin   
  • Professional Nursing License from Saudi Council for Health Specialties              

 

         Experience:

  • 8 years of experience in nursing, and preferable with four (4) years as a Nurse leader.
  • 4 years of Additional experience in Nursing Education after Master Degree.

Skills Description

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good in customer care, able to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledgeable in computer applications, MS office (Word, excel, PowerPoint).
  • A Clinical Instructor must have good analytical and communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage projects and should be organized.
  • Must be creative, flexible and have critical thinking skills.
  • He / She should have a good clinical background and practical experience in nursing besides and theoretical knowledge.
  • Good understanding towards the needs of the students and staff.
