Job Summary

Under direct supervision, patrols assigned area on foot to ensure protection and safeguarding of hospital Employees, Patients and Visitors, as well as property and equipment. Controls and monitors access in and out of hospital buildings and monitors criminal and fire alarm systems as required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
• Checks buildings in assigned area for security and checks doors, windows, lights, and equipment. Records any damage for repairs and for criminal incidents.
• Reports disorderly or suspicious behavior of patient, visitor, staff and other people on hospital premises and attempts to control the situation.
• Monitor fire extinguishers, other safety devices and signs for proper functioning. Reports irregularities or problems.
• Reports lights left on in buildings, turns outside lights on and off as directed, reports burned out building and street lights, and reports doors and locks that are not working properly.
• Keep unauthorized personnel out of buildings after closing hours, controls access to areas based on assignments, maintains regular contract with other guards, and calls shift supervisor in case of need.
• Responds to burglar and fire alarm panels to notify security supervisor of location and problem recorded on the panel and controls the panel as directed by the shift supervisor.
• Locks and unlocks doors based on schedules and requests.
• Responds to questions and calls from patient or visitors to assist with directions, locations, and other service-oriented needs.
• Assists Security as an assistant when called upon.
• Will continue to perform all regular duties of a Security Supervisor in addition to the above duties.

Qualifications

A minimum of:

• Secondary School Certification

Experience

• 1-2 years’ experience in Security related field of Health Organization
• Knowledge in English language
