Consultant Laboratory - Molecular Genetics

Job Summary

 

 

 

• The Consultant Clinical Pathology is responsible for providing the Medical Laboratory Services maintaining high-level of professional performance in accordance with:

 

 

 

 

• Professional Medical ethics and JCIA standards.

 

 

• Hospital Medical By-Laws.

 

 

• Laws of Ministry of health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan.

 

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

 

• Supervises the technical procedures in the laboratory which include Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

• Supervises the Quality Control Procedures and documentation in regards to laboratory test in the following sections:- Biochemistry, General Haematology and Blood Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

• Supervises reagent supplies in reference to receipt shelf-life shortages and correct methods by technicians.

 

 

 

 

 

• Supervises technical staff in calibration, maintenance, and operations of machines in sections of Biochemistry, General Haematology and Blood Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

• To provide and share in the care of patients with Hematological disorders in the wards.

 

 

 

 

 

• Makes sure that results with critical values are notified to attending physicians

 

 

 

 

 

• Communications with Medical Staff in regards to interpretation of laboratory results in the field of his expertise.

 

 

 

 

 

• Shares in In-service / training of technical staff and nursing staff in appropriate fields.

 

 

 

 

 

• Shares with other consultants/ registrars in Pathology on the out of hour’s laboratory cover.

 

 

 

 

 

• Supervise the Technical staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department.

 

 

 

 

 

• Actively participate in departments educational and training activities.

 

 

 

 

 

• Abides by department Policies and Procedures as well as hospital by-laws, rules and regulations.

 

 

 

 

 

• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 

 

 

 

• Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure including documentation in patient medical record.

 

 

 

 

 

• They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.

 

 

 

Reporting to:

 

 

 

• Head of Laboratory

 

 

 

Supervise:

 

 

 

• Medical staff, nursing staff, other health care professionals, patients and their families.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

 

 

 

• Bachelor Degree in Medicine and University master Degree in the field of Clinical Pathology.

 

 

 

Experience:

 

 

 

• Required:

 

 

 

 

• Minimum three (3) years of experience after Master Degree in the field of Clinical Pathology specialty.

 

 

• Current valid license to practice in Clinical Pathology from residence or recruitment country in addition to license from Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

 

Special Requirements/ Skill:

 

 

• Fluent in verbal and written English.

 

 

• Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

 

 

• Is knowledgeable of the Medical By-Laws.

 

 

• Knowledge of computer application.
